Jenny Michael – Administrative Assistant, has over 27 years of administrative management experience including Enrollment and Student Support Manager for a private college in Nevada City, CA. Jenny began working with The Sierra Fund in January 2015, excited to share her administrative skills and talents with an organization that is committed to identifying and initiating critically needed programs in the region.
Jenny grew up in the San Fernando Valley of southern California, seeking out nature in the majestic back country of Yosemite at every opportunity; she knew she wanted to live somewhere where the forests, rivers and lakes surrounded her. Her search brought her to the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills 28 years ago, and she’s never looked back.
At the center of Jenny’s passion is music. Shortly after moving to Nevada City, she discovered community radio KVMR, took the broadcaster training class and became a certified broadcaster in April 1992, and has hosted her own music program for 21 years. As KVMR is a listener supported, community centered, volunteer driven organization, her involvement quickly grew to include serving on the station’s programming committee, producing the live remote broadcast from the Nevada County Fair, and being Line Producer for the Artist Merchandise Sales at KVMR’s Celtic Festival & Marketplace since its inception 19 years ago.
Her son Jake, now 25, grew up on the airwaves of KVMR. He was reading stories with Mom on a children’s show at age 5, engineering the board at age 7 and then at age 9, his love of the Beatles landed his own segment on Mom’s show that ran for nearly 10 years known as “Jake’s All Request Beatles Show”.
When not working, Jenny loves to spend time hiking the Yuba, being with family and friends, hosting her radio program, and hearing live music every chance she gets.
Jenny loves working with people who inspire her, and is therefore honored to be working with the amazing team at The Sierra Fund.
