City of Nevada City Throws Support to Sierra Conservancy

The City of Nevada City last night added its name to a growing chorus of endorsements in support of Assembly Bill 2600 -- the historic effort to establish a Sierra Nevada Conservancy along the 400-mile backbone of California.

Resolution 2004-09, introduced for consideration by Nevada City Mayor Kerry Arnette, argues that the Sierra Nevada -- source of nearly two-thirds of California's water supply -- demands a commitment from state government to protect and restore damaged watersheds, rivers, lakes and reservoirs.

The City Council supported the Conservancy resolution on a 5 - 0 vote.
