Sierra Day in the Capitol

The Sierra Fund and the Sierra Nevada Alliance sponsor an annual event bringing citizen lobbyists for the Sierra into the California State Capitol. 

Participants are provided with basic training and tips, information on current issues, and appointments with a few legislators or legislative staff.  Groups of two or three, including a leader, then disperse with the goal of bringing information and contact to every legislative office in the Capitol. 

Citizen voices are an essential part of Sierra advocacy. 

At the May 2008 Sierra Lobby Day, co-sponsored by The Sierra Fund and the Sierra Nevada Alliance, citizen lobbyists encouraged legislators to pass the Governor's proposed budget for the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, and distributed our Sample Conservation Project Profiles packet, which demonstrates the need of further funding in the Sierra.
